The BMW M6 is the high-performance version of BMW 6 Series, a sports car produced by German automaker BMW. Also, the BMW M6 is the most highly motorized version of the coupe or convertible version of the BMW 6 Series. Both versions were developed by BMW M GmbH.
The first generation BMW M6 started its production in 1983. BMW took the M88/3 engine, a modified version of the BMW M1′s E88/1, and put it on the chassis of the BMW 6 Series E24, creating the BMW M6. This model was acclaimed for its luxury features, exterior styling and performance. The M6 can be distinguished from other E24 models by a grid of larger air intake, currencies M6 on the grid and back, and a subtle spoiler.
In the United States, the BMW M6 E24 was designed with a catalyzed S38 engine which produces 256hp (191 kW) and 243hp (with a torque of 329Nm). The European version did not need catalysts, and the engine produced 286 hp (213 W) and 251hp (340Nm).
The second generation BMW M6 E63/E64 was announced in December 2004 and officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2005. Gasoline engine incorporates 5 liter V10 in the BMW M6, with a maximum power of 507hp (373kW), maximum torque of 521Nm and SMG III gearbox seven speeds. That sports car is offered in coupe and convertible, called E63 and E64 respectively.
In the magazine’s tests, the BMW M6 ??coupe sports car with launch control sprint in aproximately 4.2 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h (factory specification 4.6 seconds) and it accelerates from 0 to 200 km/h in 12.8 seconds only.
